Mehrdad Pooladi Extends his Contract with Persepolis FC

Mehrdad Pooladi, the former midfielder of Esteghlal FC, extended his current contract with Persepolis FC for additional two years. Pooladi first joined Tehran-based football club, Persepolis, in a blatant movement from Mes Kerman. Accordingly, his contract will be valid until the end of 2015.

According to local media reports, Mehrdad Pooladi had turned down offers from Esteghlal, Sepahan and Emirates-based football clubs. “I didn’t set any certain conditions for renewing my contract with my beloved club, Persepolis. Mohammad Royanian, the President of Persepolis, talked with me, and I decided to sign a new contract with the team.” Mehrdad Pooladi told reporters.

Persepolis FC failed to claim any title over the past season. “We will try to do our best in order to win at least one cup in the coming season. The current squad has the potential to win IPL title.” Pooladi added.

Pooladi started his youth career in Paykan academy in 2002. He appeared in Iran Pro League for the first time with Paykan’s senior squad in 2006. Until the end of 2007, he played 18 matches for Paykan, and scored 2 goals for his side. In 2007, he moved to Esteghlal FC. Mehrdad Pooladi won Iran’s top league in 2008–09 with Blues. After season 2008–09, he moved to Tractor Sazi. From 2010 to 2012, he played for Mes Kerman. During his presence in Kerman, Pooladi was invited to Iran national football team by Carlos Queiroz. He was a member of Iran U-23, participating in the 2006 Asian Games.
