The Football Federation of Iran has recently appointed Jesus Candelas Rodrigo as the new head coach of its Futsal team. Accordingly Iran will face Russia twice in next month and Candelas must find the ways to defeat Russia in order to secure his position in Iran’s national team.
Candelas says he is confident about the future of his career in the country and he will do whatever he can to defeat Russia in upcoming friendlies. “We have limited time to prepare our team for these matches but I may need to meet Putin (the president of Russia) in person to find the drawbacks of Russia’s team.” Jesus joked.
Jesus Candelas Rodrigo had not ever been a coach of national team in his career. “I had received offers from several European and Middle Eastern countries but I turned down all of them. I believe Iran has great capabilities in Futsal and I’m going to help this team to achieve more successes in coming years.”
The 10-time Asian champion was eliminated from the 2012 Futsal World Cup, suffering a 2-1 loss against Colombia in the round of 16 in November. Jesus Candelas is going to take Iran’s Futsal team to next level. The “Kings of Asian Futsal” have won the first FIFA Confederations Cup in Libya in 2009 and are the 7th strongest team in the world according to the most recent Futsal World Ranking.
