Iran international Javad Nekounam says Esteghlal players are concentrating on their upcoming match against Emirates-based football club, Al-Ain. After winning the game against Al-Rayyan, Blues secured their qualification for the next round of AFC Champions League.
“This match will be our most difficult game in this round of AFC Champions League. We need to defeat Al-Ain to host the next game in Iran.” Javad Nekounam, the Midfielder of Esteghlal FC, told Pars Herald on Saturday.
Currently Esteghlal needs only three more points to claim the title of Persian Gulf league. Javad Nekounam believes that their mission still unfinished. “Professionally, we should not talk about the chance of Esteghlal for winning the championship of Iran Pro League. We are not allowed to lose any points in next two matches in order to secure our championship. By the way, I personally believe Esteghlal is completely entitled to win the cup.”
“I have signed a two-year contract with Esteghlal FC at the beginning of the current season. I’m fully committed to my agreement, and I will definitely play for Esteghlal in next season too.” Nekounam confirmed his stay with Esteghlal.
Nekounam used to be a member of Osasuna for several years. He had played in European League and European Champions League several times with this Spanish side. “I think Spanish teams have lower chance in compare to German clubs. In my opinion, Bayern Munchen will win European Champions League in this season.” Javad Nekounam concluded.
