Iran international Javad Nekounam is reportedly sad about his conditions at Tehran based football club, Esteghlal. Stories suggest that he is unhappy about the recent move of Farhad Majidi to this club. Majidi is the former captain of Blues and he will wear the captaincy armband in pitch. But Nekounam has declined these suggestions. “It’s not about the captaincy.”

Javad Nekounam, former player of La Liga side Osasuna, returned to his country and signed a one-year contract with Esteghlal. In the same time, Majidi was struggling to re-join his loved club but Amir Ghalenoei appointed Nekounam as the new captain of the team and Majidi didn’t attend the club in that time. However Nekounam handed the armband over to Mehdi Rahmati, goalkeeper.

“Yesterday we talked with Javad Nekounam about his problem. Apparently it’s neither about Majidi nor about Esteghlal’s captaincy. The leadership of Esteghlal in pitch is important but making people satisfied and happy about the results of the team is our best goal here. We are trying to resolve his issues.” said Amir Ghalenoei, the head coach of Blues, about the latest status of Javad Nekounam.

Nekounam was heavily linked with Emirates club in mid season transfer window. But he changed his mind and stayed in Esteghlal FC after a session held between him and the authorities of the club.
