Like in the other Middle Eastern countries, Iranian women must face with many restrictions which are not applied for men. One of the main problems of females in Iran is finding suitable jobs. The unemployment rate in this country is about 25% and in this condition there is much discrimination against women when employers want to hire new work force.
Living and working in this situation is very hard for females but there are many female entrepreneurs in Iran and especially in Karaj province. At the 2006 census, its population was 1,377,450, making it the fourth-largest city in Iran after Tehran, Mashhad, and Isfahan. According to the recent announcement made by Maryam Sadat Siadat Joo, the deputy commissioner of Karaj, a documentary about the lives of female entrepreneurs is going to be casted in this province.
“This will be the first documentary of its kind in Iran and Hamed Amraei will direct and produce it. The lives of 15 female entrepreneurs in different fields are going to be reviewed during this short film and the casting phase of it will be completed on mid-Bahman.” Maryam Sadat Siadat Joo said.
“We have worked hard to highlight the efforts made by females in Karaj. By producing this documentary we can encourage females to pursue their careers and make difference in Iranian community.” Siadat Joo concluded.
