Jonathan Ive

Not many people know who the man behind the iPad is, but with the launch of Apple’s newly designed iOS7, Jony Ive is the talk of the town.

Charlie Chaplin

One of the most memorable and significant actors of all time and he has been dubbed ‘father of silent film’, Charlie Chaplin was also a British expat. Chaplin’ was born and raised in London and lived a life of sadness and destitution.

His mother was committed to a mental asylum when he was still a boy and so he began his career in performing arts in order to provide for himself. At the age of 19 Chaplin moved to the United States and by 1918 claimed international fame.

After he chose to exile himself from the US due to communist accusations he moved to Switzerland where he lived out the remainder of his days.
