Farhad Majidi, who recently signed an 18 month contract with Esteghlal FC, will wear the captain’s armband for the Tehran based club. Majidi used to play for Blues for several years and currently he is one of the most popular players of Iran.

During the mid season transfer window of the last season, Majidi left Esteghlal FC to join a Qatari side club due to his private problems with the administrators of the club. He intended to re-join Esteghlal at the beginning of this season but Amir Ghalenoei, head coach, introduced a new captain for the team and Majidi changed his mind. Now Ghalenoei has admitted the power and worth of Majidi and urged him to sign with the club and end the conflict between them.

“There are not any major problems between the players of Esteghlal FC. I’m sure that Mojtaba Jabbari, the current captain of team, will hand the armband over to Farhad Majidi, who is a part of Esteghlal’s great history.” said Ali Fathollahzadeh, the president of Iran’s giant club. Also Javad Nekounam has ruled out the reported problems with Majidi.

According to Fathollahzadeh, Majidi is allowed to play for the team from the next match as the club has received the necessary certifications from the Football Federation of Iran.

Currently Esteghlal FC is the leading team in Iran’s Pro League. Blues have amassed 34 points from their 18 opening matches in Persian Gulf League.
