Last week, Tehran-based football club managed to win the title of Iran’s Persian Gulf League. Mirshad Majedi, Esteghlal Team Manager, says the members of club had done what they could to claim the championship.
“Of course, Esteghlal was the superior club in this season. We have qualified for the next round of AFC Champions League as the leading club in our group. This proves the high quality of Blues.” Mirshad Majedi told reporters in the brink of a training session.
“Currently, we are in the middle of negotiations with Football Federation to hold a plush ceremony in order to celebrate our achievements with Esteghlal fans. The ceremony will be held at Azadi Sports Complex of Tehran after the match between Esteghlal and Damash.” Mirshad Majedi added.
Local media reports suggest that Majidi, captain of Esteghlal FC, will announce his retirement from football after the game against Damash. “Farhad Majidi has performed very well in Esteghlal squad. His services were important for the team, and he helped the club to win the title of Iran Pro League. As far as I know, he has signed an 18-month contract with Esteghlal FC. I hope he continues his career in Esteghlal for at least one more season.” Mirshad Majedi concluded.
Farhad Majidi is one of the most popular football players in Esteghlal FC. In mid-season transfer window, he returned to Esteghlal. Analysts named him as the best player of Esteghlal during the second half season.
