Healthy living has emerged globally to become an increasingly essential part of everyone’s daily routine now. Progressive scientific studies continue to highlight the importance of diet and exercise to mental and physical well-being, and with this information being so readily available, we are more conscious than ever before of our responsibility toward ourselves.
But the lifestyle offered in Dubai doesn’t often lend itself to maintaining good condition. It can be hard to fit in a trip to the gym or a healthy nutritious meal after working for 10 hours a day and spending another hour getting home at night.
The fast-paced, frenetic way of inner city life can be hard to manage, it takes its toll. How many times a day do you hear someone saying “I just need to get out of Dubai for a while….?”
Kick Start Health Retreats
Enter Transform Health Retreats. Billed as a “new concept in rejuvenation”, Transform was established by young British entrepreneur, Rose Adams, to cater for the growing need to get away from it all for a bit and rediscover healthy eating, exercise and relaxation outside of the city. Having identified the gap in the market, Rose was keen to bring her ideal to a city so clearly in need of relaxing a touch.
“I used to go to health retreats in Spain and Thailand when I needed a break,” explained Rose, “but it was a fairly costly affair, even though I came out feeling fabulous each time.” Rose developed the ideas she witnessed at retreats overseas, and combined them with her passion for healthy eating and homemade juices to create the concept of Transform. As a result of over a year of planning, preparation and hard work, residents of Dubai and the UAE now have an affordable, peaceful and welcoming sanctuary on their own doorstep.
Escape
The retreats are held in the luxurious 5 star Jebel Ali Golf Resort & Spa, a location which is just far enough outside the city that you can’t even hear the Sheikh Zayed Road. It’s quite surreal to begin with. Silence is not usually available in Dubai.
Over the course of the four day retreat, guests are able to participate in a variety of activities such as yoga, group games, exercise and gym sessions, while enjoying spa treatments, pampering and luxury relaxation in equal measure. The itinerary also includes juicing demos and dietary guidance as well as three healthy and nutritious, carefully selected meals each day.
“Groups are kept to a maximum of 10 per retreat for maximum results,” continues Rose “and one of our retreaters came away from the four days having lost 10lbs! Although average weight loss is between 5-8lbs.”
