Mom and housewife Candace Payne has become a viral superstar just for posting a selfie video of her wearing a Star Wars Chewbacca mask and laughing out loud.

A week and 135 million Facebook views later and Candace is still laughing her head off.

She’s starred on nationwide TV with James Corden on The Late, Late Show and taken part in his carpool karaoke, when the presenter drives her to work with a special guest in the car.

And she hinted that she plans to make more social media videos in the future.

The 37-year-old mother of two shot to fame sitting in her car sitting in a store parking lot.

On her head was a plastic Chewbacca mask with sound effects.

Star Wars Chewie was calling out

“I don’t know what happened. I was in the store and I had to buy him, then Chewie called out of the bag to me,” she said. “Then I couldn’t resist ripping the packaging off and wearing the mask.

“For some reason I laughed and laughed and the rest is history.”

When asked why her video is so popular, Candace replied: The world needs a good laugh now and then.”

Besides sharing a sofa and a car with James Corden, Candace was introduced to Star Wars director JJ Abrams who gave her some hints about how to growl like Chewbacca.

“It’s like this,” he growls as he rehearses with Candace, who is from North Carolina, USA.

Star Wars thrill

She gets the growl, but James Corden doesn’t until Abrams gets him to join in.

Candace bought the mask for her son, but laughed maniacally and pledged to keep the toy for herself.

“Everyone should have a mask like this and a mirror,” Candace wrote on Facebook. “The most joyful Wookie ever!!!!”

For those in the dark, Chewbacca was Hans Solo’s (Harrison Ford) right hand Wookie in the first Star Wars film.
