Ali Daei, the former captain of Team Melli and the current head coach of Tehran based club Rah Ahan FC, believes his side has enough potential to claim a place in next AFC Champions League which is the highest club level tournament in Asia.

“Despite having a lot of problems here, I think we can qualify for AFC Champions League at the end of season. I believe our players have great capabilities and they can achieve this goal if they do their best for club.” said Ali Daei, the former striker of Bayern Munich and Persepolis FC.

Rah Ahan currently sits on fifth place in Iran Pro League’s table. The club has amassed 29 points from its 17 opening matches in Iran’s Persian Gulf League. “Fortunately we managed to sign with two valuable players. I’m happy with the recent moves. Our side did great in first half of the season. By adding these players to squad we will do even better in future.” Ali Daei added about the status of Rah Ahan FC in mid season transfer window.

On 14 July 2011, Daei signed a one-year contract as head coach of Rah Ahan. At the beginning of the current season he extended his contract with the club.
