Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, one of the founders of the Islamic Republic, warned about the political views of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s government and said his party doesn’t feel responsibility for the outcomes of its wrong policies.

“The current political flow (which is under the management of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad) is alien with the intentions of Ayatollah Khomeini and the goals of Islamic Republic’s Revolution. Despite the alarms issued by influential and compassionate politicians, several parties supported this flow which is not responsible for its policies.” said Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Chairman of the Expediency Discernment Council.

“This group didn’t have any portion in Islamic Revolution and its operations have stopped the progress of Iranian community. According to our constitution press, papers, political and social figures are free to talk about their favorite subjects so we should not repress them.” the former President of Iran added.

Rafsanjani has been described as a centrist and a pragmatic conservative. He supports a free market position domestically, favoring privatization of state-owned industries, and a moderate position internationally, seeking to avoid conflict with the United States and the West.

A few years ago, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the views of Ahmadinejad’s government are “near” his own opinion and praised Iranian government. He also dubbed it as the most popular government in recent 100 years.
