Although the Isfahan based football club, Sepahan, is the most recent champion of Iran Pro League but they are currently seven points behind the leading team, Esteghlal. Ahmad Jamshidian, the midfielder of Sepahan FC, believes his side has good chance of winning the title of IPL in this season too.
“Unfortunately Sepahan was not good in several matches and we couldn’t garner the available points from our rivals. When you are playing in IPL you must only concentrate on your job and forget the results of other teams. We have been the champion of Iran for three consecutive seasons and this has made other clubs to be so passionate about playing against Sepehan. This is the most difficult part of our job,” Ahmad Jamshidian said.
“There are seven teams in league which have targeted IPL championship but none of them have performed great in its games. The current conditions of Sepahan FC are promising and I’m sure that our team can achieve its goal of winning the title if we continue our efforts. Esteghlal, Saipa, Naft and Traktor Sazi are the other clubs working hard to grab this cup.” Jamshidian, the former player of Malavan, added.
Sepahan FC has tallied only 31 points from its 19 opening matches in Iran Pro League, known as Persian Gulf League.
