During the mid season transfer window Adel Kolahkaj left Isfahan based club, Sepahan, to join his former team Persepolis FC. On 2009–2010 season Kolahkaj appeared in 24 matches and scored his single goal against Esteghlal in Tehran’s renowned derby.
The performance of Persepolis FC in first half of Iran Pro League was terrible and the team tallied only 25 points from 19 matches. Now they are 13 points behind their archrival, Esteghlal FC. In these conditions Adel Kolahkaj believes Persepolis will change the situations in season’s second half. Yahya Golmohammadi has been appointed as the new head coach of Reds and Kolahkaj praises his job.
“Esteghlal is a great and respectable club in Iran. They had performed better in compare to Persepolis from the beginning of this season. I was not a member of Persepolis in first half of season but I’ve heard that Manuel Jose, the former head coach, was not a professional and suitable option for club. I think Golmohammadi can take the team to next level.” Adel Kolahkaj said.
In the last two matches Kolahkaj was benched by technical cadre. “I didn’t leave Sepahan FC to sit on Persepolis’s bench. But the team’s condition is more important for me and I accept the decision made by coaches.”
Adel Kolahkaj started his career in Foolad and won the league with the team and played in the 2006 AFC Champions League group stage. He moved to Saba after Foolad got relegated. Then Adel moved to Persepolis in June 2009.
